Sans Titre, Fanny Lavergne, 2013, vidéo HD, 3’
Working between visual art, stage design and ceramics, Fanny Lavergne is an alumna of Pavillon Bosio, École supérieure d’arts plastiques de la Ville de Monaco. In her video Untitled, a chandelier made of porcelain is suspended above an otherwise empty room. As often in Lavergne’s work, long, meticulous preparation and a phase of stillness is confronted with the sudden impact of danger or an accident. The object has a last great moment before its destruction.
Fanny Lavergne is a visual artist and stage designer. Following a period of study at the École des Métiers d’Arts in Arras, where her interest in raw materials and hand-made objects began, she joined Monaco Art School Pavillon Bosio, where she obtained her DNSEP (postgraduate diploma in visual arts) with a special mention from the examining board. She is currently enrolled in post-diploma studies. If her art is inspired by performance, it is often through the prism of time and fragility. She addresses a variety of temporalities – the audience, the stage, the work and the time taken to produce it – in spaces of anguished tension, with a degree of irony.
